A Concept Analysis on the Collective Efficacy of Chronic Illness

Abstract
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the clear concept of the collective efficacy and precenting the clear definition based on the analysis of the meaning and properties of the collective efficacy.

Methods: Research was conducted using the Walker and Avant¡¯s(2005) conceptual analysis process.

Results: The result of this study indicates that 1)desire, 2)shared belief, 3)cohension and 4)task interdependence are attributes of the collective efficacy. It was verified that desire was a confidence in a certain level of achievement for a specific task, shared belief was mind which believe firmly the ability to organize and execute actions required for project achievement, cohension was an intention for the group members to remain in their own group and the degree of loyalty towards the group, task interdependence signified a degree of dependence on the efforts or skills of others who were different from an individual¡¯s task performance by the structural characteristics of task. The collective efficacy was found to improve the achievement of organization.

Conclusions: The exact understanding of the elements of collective efficacy in nursing area can devise an intervention to enhance the collective efficay as well as self-help groups in the subject of chronic diseases, it can be applied to a variety of nursing areas.
